Abstract

The paper aims to provide evidence on whether the Plan de Inclusión Social, a cash transfer program implemented in San Luis in 2003, had effect on the percentage of individuals living in inadequate quality housing. A panel data at the level of the argentine agglomerates for the period 1997-2006 is built, and the Synthetic Control Method is used to identify the causal impact of the program on the variable of interest. The results suggest that the program enabled a reduction of 1.85 percentage points in the outcome variable (relative reduction of 25.21%), and this result is robust to different tests of falsification.
