Abstract
The capital flight from developing countries in general and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in particular undeniably constitutes one of the most serious problems which negatively impact investments and beyond the economic growth in the long run. The aim of this article was the assessment of the conceptual and methodological issues associated with the definition, the determinants of capital flight based on the residual method adjusted for fluctuations in trade falsification and inflation in the case of DRC. The capital flight for the period from 2000 to 2018 for DRC amounts to approximately 80.81 billion US dollars, an amount 4.5 times higher than during the 32 years of the reign of the late President Mobutu.
