Abstract

En este trabajo se analiza los factores que determinan la oferta de trabajo de los cónyuges de las familias de Gran Bretaña. Utilizados datos de la Encuesta Europea de Ingresos y Condiciones de Vida entre los años 2005 y 2018 se han estimado ecuaciones de salarios y oferta laboral para ambos cónyuges. Los resultados revelan que para el mercado de trabajo británico existe una correlación positiva significativa entre el nivel educativo y el salario. Además, se observa asimetría en los factores que afectan a la oferta de trabajo de los cónyuges, siendo más rígida la oferta de los hombres que de las mujeres. Al mismo tiempo, los resultados sugieren que el modelo colectivo es más adecuado que el modelo unitario para estudiar la toma de decisiones de familias de Gran Bretaña.
