Abstract

At the outset, we introduced the concept of a resilient economy and the shock of the 2007–2009 global financial crisis on the world economy. Then, the resilience of different world regions against this shock is examined. Finally, the resilience of Iran’s economy in the face of the global financial crisis is analyzed. It is organized into the following sections: definition of a resilient economy; the 2007–2009 global financial crisis shock; economic resilience in East Asia; economic resilience in Latin America; economic resilience in South Asia; economic resilience in Europe; economic resilience in Central Asia and the Caucasus; economic resilience in Sub-Saharan Africa; and economic resilience in the MENA region (Middle East and North Africa). Lastly, the global financial and economic crisis and Iran’s economic resilience during this crisis are discussed. It concludes with a final summary and remarks.
