Abstract

The purpose of the study was to analyze the capacity for sector income generation of the inter-regional input-output system with four regions, Parana, Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul and the Rest of Brazil, and their local and inter-regional impacts in 2004. The main results showed that: a) there are common key sectors between regions with low spillover effect, all belonging to the trade and services, b) there is greater economic interaction between the southern states with the rest of the country than with states in the same region; c) the supply chains of oil refining activities, Automobile Industry, Agribusiness (Food and Beverage and tobacco products) and Clothing and Accessories Industry are responsible for most inter-regional flows of goods and services for the intermediate consumption.
