This document present the effects of taxes and public spending on the components of gross domestic product (GDP) for the period 1993-2009 in Ecuador. We use a structural autoregressive vector model (SVAR) calibrated based on research Gachet (2010) of Stylized Facts. This research is one of the first to incorporate restrictions empirical VARs in Ecuador. The main results are: i) the taxes have temporary effects on the ecuadorian economy. ii) the increase in indirect taxes have a negative effect on GDP, imports and exports. iii) a positive shock of direct taxes only have a positive effect on exports.s.
