Abstract
This paper studies the commuting behavior in the UK, with a focus on the differences between employed and self-employed workers. The European Working Conditions Survey (2015) will be used to carry out a descriptive and econometric analysis and identify what factors can explain the different mobility patterns observed in those two groups. Our empirical results show that employees spend 27.57 more minutes per day commuting than the self-employed and factors such as education level, gender and urban characteristics have a remarkable influence.
