Abstract
The importance of African countries, especially Sub-Saharan ones, to Bulgaria is determined by the increasing role of the region in both global economy and policy, as well as its immense economic potential and natural resources. Bulgaria’s policy towards African countries is based on one hand on the traditionally good relations with many of them, and on the other hand on their preferential political and economic relations with the EU. The study analyses the dynamics and commodity structure of Bulgarian trade relations and its main trade partners in Sub-Saharan Africa for the period 2003-2013.
