Abstract
The process of restructuring the Venetian agriculture economy is among the most intense, rapid and tumultuous. It appears in some ways uncontrolled. The production reallocation seems to follow the Ricardian model. More and more focused on the plain, the particular land regime lies in the competitive repositioning of companies, whose abandonment rates are rapidly accelerated, also due to the worsening of the scarcity of spare parts that bare the weakness of the social component. The most destabilizing dynamic is the progressive consumption of agricultural land, the loss of irreversibility is emphasized, the territorial aggression becomes more intense. The sharpest contraction of companies, almost halved since '90, dramatic in the mountainous areas, reveals a selective restructuring. Failure to adjust those remaining indicates, however, not yet reaching a satisfactory structural equilibrium. The extra-agricultural destination of the territorial area is now overwhelming, the diminished weight of agriculture in resource management makes its function of environmental protection more confusing, confined to unprofitable spaces.
