Abstract
Social choice analysis has demonstrated that it is possible that the result of a democratic process may not be what a majority of the decision-makers wanted. An election inversion (where there is a discrepancy between what a majority wanted and the result) was clearly visible in the 2016 US presidential election, but it was less visible that even the Republican primary voters may not have wanted Trump.
