Abstract
In this chapter, the authors carefully interpret what FOCAC holds for China-Africa Trade. This is done by interpreting the content of what FOCAC spells out in terms of trade and as summarised above, and by analysing actual trade between the two sides. The main objective of this chapter is to analyse and discuss trade between China and Africa within the context of FOCAC and the realities underlying the relationship between China and Africa. The aims that need to be addressed to achieve this, are: reviewing the main features of the agreement on trade, analysing the expected gains and losses by China and Africa, considering the international critique in regard to trade cooperation between China and Africa, and concluding the study.
