Abstract

This work proposes a dynamic conceptual structure of the life cycle of families that includes four stages: 1. Formation of the home: marriage creation, 2. Birth and raising of children, 3. Stage of academic formation of children and 4. Retirement, end of life cycle. A fundamental element of the structure is the Transferability of Profits between the members of a possible couple, which implies that, given a benefit derived from the matching, there may be a transfer of profits from one member to another. Selective matching (assortative matching) occurs when individuals are matched based on a series of characteristics: Positive Assortative Matching if they are common, such as the same level of education, and Negative Assortative Matching in case a match is preferred with totally different characteristics.
