Abstract

Student learning outcomes were compared across cohorts studying the Principles of Economics in a computer managed instruction (CMI) college course and in a traditional classroom setting. An educational production function model was estimated using data collected across the two groups. Results indicate that students with relatively high ACT and GPA scores tended to learn more under CMI relative to a regular classroom. Furthermore, older and male students also performed better with CMI, ceteris paribus.
