Recently, Islamic banks have experienced a remarkable development through the growth of their assets, the growth of their branches and their spread in many countries. Therefore, it was necessary to measure this development by knowing the changes in banking productivity and analyzing their developments over time. Therefore, the productivity of Islamic banks operating in a group of Islamic countries was studied. The sample included 11 Islamic banks during the period from 2003 to 2009, using the data envelope analysis method to estimate the Malmquist index of total productivity on the one hand, and its breakdown into its main components, technical change and technical efficiency, on the other hand, to find out the source The main change in productivity. The results of the research showed that Islamic banks achieved relatively high rates of total productivity over the years of study, as the overall average growth rate is estimated at 1.7 percent. The reason for this is due to the growth and development of technical change, and not to the increase in efficiency changes, except for the decrease recorded between 2008 and 2009. The sample banks differ in terms of their efficiency and productivity values, although they are very similar. The results showed that the Islamic International Arab Bank obtained the best productivity growth, followed by Qatar Islamic Bank, while Dubai Islamic Bank witnessed the lowest rate of productivity, as it requires improving its productivity by 9.6% to reach the degree of stability.
