Abstract
This paper aims to examine the pattern of diversification of exports of Indonesian manufacturing industry products in the period 2003 - 2012. Using the Herfindahl-Hirschman index (HHI), the results show that: (i) the level of diversification of Indonesia's export commodities is relatively low, marked by the role of a number of leading commodity (13 commodity groups) which dominates more than 50% of the national export share; (ii) the level of market diversification (export destination countries) is also low because it is only dominated by exports to 13 destination countries (traditional markets). Therefore, diversification of products and export markets must be a long-term strategy and must be carried out aggressively with strong support from the government.
