Abstract
Tämän raportin tarkoituksena on koota yhteen tuloksia tutkimuksistamme, joissa on tarkasteltu yhdistettyjen aineistojen avulla työolojen vaikutuksia muun muassa työntekijöiden kokemaan hyvinvointiin, työntekijöiden vaihtuvuuteen, tuottavuuteen ja eläköitymiseen. Työoloja ja niiden vaikutuksia työntekijöihin on tutkittu monen tieteenalan piirissä, kuten taloustieteessä, psykologiassa, henkilöstöjohtamisessa ja sosiologiassa. Tutkittavat ilmiöt ovat eri aloilla hyvinkin samankaltaisia, mutta eri tieteenaloilla tutkimusten taustalla oleva teoreettinen viitekehys, käytetyt tutkimusmenetelmät ja tulosten tulkinnat voivat vaihdella. Vaikka oma näkökulmamme on taloustieteellinen, raportti on kuitenkin kirjoitettu laajemmalle yleisölle. Taloustieteen teoriaa ja menetelmiä ei siksi käsitellä yksityiskohtaisesti ja viittaamme jonkin verran myös muilla tieteenaloilla tehtyyn tutkimukseen. Yhtenä tutkimustemme keskeisenä piirteenä, joka erottaa ne useimmista muilla aloilla tehdystä tutkimuksesta, on ollut se, että niissä yhdistetään kysely- ja rekisteriaineistoja ja pyritään mahdollisuuksien mukaan huomioimaan työntekijöiden valikoituminen erilaisiin työoloihin.
